#14 Grand Valley State (22-9; 6-5) split a GLIAC doubleheader Saturday with Saginaw Valley State, dropping game one 4-0, but bouncing back to take game two 7-2. GVSU and SVSU will conclude the four-game series Sunday (April 6), with first pitch set for 12 noon at the GVSU Baseball Field.

Saginaw Valley State scored first with two runs in the top of the first on just one hit, but the Lakers were able to get a run back in the bottom of the first. Junior SS
Evan Morrison singled and advanced to third on a two-base error pickoff attempt. Senior 1B
Jonas Gulbrandsen plated Morrison with a groundout.Â
The Lakers took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third on two hits and two Cardinal errors. Morrison reached on a fielding error and LF

The Lakers broke the game wide open with four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Gulbrandsen was hit by a pitch with one out, followed by a Guciardo single and a VanEnkevort walk. Gulbrandsen scored on a passed ball and DH
Nick Krstich came through with a 2-run single to right. 3B
Caleb Estrada delivered a 2-out single to push the Laker lead to 7-2.

Collin Bradley (3-2) was outstanding on the mound, yielding just two runs on one hit in 7.0 innings of work. Bradley struck out seven, retired 16 consecutive batters and did not allow a hit after the first inning. Senior
Will Goebel picked up his third save of the year with two clean innings and two strikeouts.Â

Gulbrandsen was 2-4 with two RBI, while Krstich was 1-3 with two RBI.Â

The Lakers were unable to get anything going offensively with just three hits in the game. 1B
Jovan Gill was 2-2 with a walk and VanEnkevort also provided a hit.
Owen Avery was tagged with loss, yielding three runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts.
Sebastian Talaga pitched the final two innings, striking out three and giving up one run.Â
