ALLENDALE, Mich. – Grand Valley's track and field teams closed out their four-day, two-meet weekend Saturday evening. Lakers recorded a total of 49 personal-bests and updated 22 records in Grand Valley's all-time top 10 record book.

Results
Student-athletes began competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California on Wednesday.
Maggie O'Malley,
Annika Sandman and
Maria Widmann kicked off the day with the women's 10000m. All three recorded personal-bests, including Sandman's collegiate debut in the 10k.
Owen Westerkamp and
Maria Mitchell began the evening portion of events with the 3000m steeplechase. The duo recorded personal-bests in the event; Westerkamp's 8:49.42 and Mitchell's 10:12.92 finishes put them as second-fastest in the event in program history (men's and women's).
Four more personal-bests closed out Wednesday's events.
Ana Tucker added her name to Grand Valley's record book with a personal-best 34:37.77 finish in the 10000m, ranking fifth all-time.
Koby Fraaza also added his name to the book, recording a 28:56.06 finish in the men's 10k to rank fourth all-time.
Sam Martens updated his time in the record book with a number six all-time finish at 29:19.07 in the 10k.
Cal Yackin also recorded a PR, crossing the finish line at 29:58.02.
Thursday's events at Bryan Clay included the 800m and 5000m. The Laker ladies dominated both events; all six racers recorded a personal-best and five went down in GVSU history.
Lilly Alberts (2:07.76),
Addison Washler (2:08.90) and
Megan Postma (2:09.19) now rank sixth, eighth and ninth all-time in the women's 800m.
Klaudia O'Malley flew through the women's 5000m, recording the second-best finish in school history at 15:42.43.
Natalie Graber updated her time in the record book, as well, finishing the event at a sixth-ranking 15:57.95.
Allie Arnsman crossed the 5k finish line at a personal-best 16:31.51.
Sam Allen and
Scott Spaanstra represented GVSU in the 800m. Allen recorded a personal-best time, finishing at 1:49.23 to rank fourth all-time, just behind Spaanstra in the record book. Spaanstra finished third in the heat at 1:50.12.
Friday saw action at the Al Owens Classic on GVSU turf and at the Bryan Clay Invite. Athletes at Grand Valley State competed in hammer throw, shot put, triple jump and pole vault. Laker competitors at Bryan Clay raced in the 400m and 1500m events.
The first event of the day to post GVSU marks was men's pole vault. The squad took six of the top 10 spots, recording three personal-bests and one season-best.
Colton Emeott led the team with a season-best mark of 5.01m (16-5.25), followed by
Dolan Gonzales (4.91m / 16-1.25) and
Camryn Battjes (4.81m / 15-9.25).
Ray Weatherington and
David Conrad took the fourth and fifth spots in the event with personal-best marks of 4.81m (15-9.25) and 4.66m (15-3.5), respectively.
Ryan Eck ranked seventh with a personal-best 4.51m (14-9.5) mark.

Giuliana Serapiglia,
Cassidy Bowden and
Sydney Wilson represented GVSU in women's pole vault. Collier ranked first in the event, recording a personal-best 3.65m (11-11.75) mark. Bowden also recorded a personal-best, clearing 3.20m (10-6) to tie for fourth. Serapiglia cleared 3.35m (10-11.75) to rank third and Wilson tied her personal-best 3.20m (10-6) to rank sixth.
In shot put,
Gerald Capaccio threw a personal-best 17.16m (56-3.75) to rank second in the invite ahead of
Andrew Berryhill (16.37m / 53-8.5).
Mason Floria recorded a season-best mark of 11.32m (37-1.75) in the open event.
Nolyn Johnson III and
Logan Ehlers both competed in triple jump. Johnson III ranked first with a mark of 13.83m (45-4.5); Ehlers ranked sixth with a personal-best jump of 12.38m (40-7.5).
Five women competed in the hammer throw invite, two of whom recorded a personal-best mark.
Shelby Ulven took the crown with a 58.22m (191) mark, followed by
Alaina Omonode's 55.40m (181-9) second-place throw.
Natalia Pluff (50.25m / 164-10) and
Allie DiCanio (48.46m / 159) both recorded personal-bests and ranked fifth and seventh in the event.
Michael Griffey and
Lucas Lesher threw in men's hammer throw. The duo ranked second and third in the event with marks at 60.40m (198-2) and 57.42m (188-4), respectively.
Day three of Bryan Clay saw two personal-best times, both in the 1500m.
Maria Mitchell's 4:24.08 finish ranks her ninth in program history and
Owen Westerkamp's finish at 3:44.85 ranks him third.
On the final day of the Al Owens Classic, 21 personal-bests were recorded through 26 events.
Will Gaston kicked things off with a 56.60m (185-7) personal-best throw in javelin, ranking first in the event and sixth in program history.
The 1500m saw personal-bests from
Jordyn Hopgood and
Katrina Sandman who finished at 4:40.37 and 4:42.37.
Tinsae Nelson finished at a personal-best 4:00.72 in the men's event.
The relay squads had a great outing, as well.
Catherine Guckenberger,
Taylor Kyle,
Claire Neumann and
Melia Williams started the day with the 4x100m relay. The squad finished first in the event at 46.32. The men were next;
Michael McNeil, Nick Walper,
Jacody Sikora and
Myles Rhodes ran the 400m, finishing at 40.20 – the third-best time in program history.
Jaivon Harrison and
Braden Prielipp represented GVSU in men's high jump. They cleared 2.11m (6-11) and 1.96m (6-5) to finish first and second, respectively. Five women competed in the event and two recorded season-bests.
Kaylee Diamond led the team with a 1.73m (5-8) mark and Josie Bentz cleared a height of 1.58m (5-2.25).
Catherine Guckenberger and
Claire Neumann represented the sprints/hurdles crew in the 400m while
Jordyn Hopgood and Katrina represented the distance squad. Guckenberger recorded yet another personal-best, updating her number eight time to 55.08 in the record book.

Dominik Balenda and
Trannon Aylor ran in the men's section, along with several distance runners. The four took four of the top five spots with
Trannon Aylor recording a season-best of 48.72.
The hurdles crew showed out in the finals. Josh Hurt led the squad with a finish at 14.27, followed by
Ethan Smith and
Dominic Downes who recorded second and third place times at 14.60 and 14.67.
Tayshawn Bester rounded out the top five with a 15.35 finish for fifth place.
Brooke Barkocy took the crown in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.20.
Destini Dorkins finished second with another personal-best at 14.27.
Hurdles continued to succeed in the 400m section.
Lance Riddle (53.22),
Tayshawn Bester (56.70) and
Leeyah Samuels (1:10.02) recorded personal-bests in the events.
The 100m dash finals had five athletes compete, two of which scored a personal-best and two others grabbing a season-best.
Michael McNeil and Nick Walper recorded personal-best times of 10.59 and 10.62, respectively while
Jacody Sikora grabbed a season-best 10.78.
Taylor Kyle finished first of the women at 12.03;
Melia Williams followed with a season-best 12.33.
The women's 200m saw competition from Melia Willliams who recorded a season-best, third place finish at 25.14.

DeMarcus Chapa and
Michael McNeil competed in the men's section. Balenda and Chapa recorded personal-best time in the event with finishes at 21.43 and 21.70, respectively.
The 800m saw several athletes compete, with three recording personal or season-bests.
Tyler Heath and
Bentley Alderson recorded personal-best race times of 1:54.73 and
Lleyton Axline grabbed a season-best 1:59.77.
The women started long jump and did so with a bang.
Zoe Zeiser recorded a personal-best with a 5.78m (18-11.75) mark, ranking eighth in program history.
Kaitlyn Molnar was just behind with a personal-best 5.68m (18-7.75) mark.
Grace Moeggenborg took fourth-place with a personal-best 5.48m (17-11.75) jump.
Gloria Stepanovich rounded out the Laker ladies' long jump lineup with a, you guessed it, personal-best 5.12m (16-9.75).

Luke Jelderks was at the top of the list with a season-best 7.31m (23-11.75) jump on his third attempt, followed by a personal-best 7.25m (23-9.5) mark by
Dylan LaFontsee and
Caleb Taylor's personal-best 7.22m (23-8.25) jump.
Mason Floria also recorded a season-best, jumping for 6.68m (21-11) on his second attempt.

Grand Valley's track and field squad will be back in action next week, competing in three meets from Friday through Saturday. Lakers will close out the regular season at the Drake Relays (Des Moines, Iowa), the Clark Wood Invite (Louisville, Ky.) and the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet (Allendale, Mich.).
