GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-2 win at Davenport Friday (April 18) afternoon. The Lakers finish the regular season with a 13-4 overall record and 7-1 conference mark.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Neus Ramos and
Vale Mozas tallied a 6-1 win at the top doubles position.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez posted a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
Ipek Sakiroglu and
Kalomoira Ralli added a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Anna Soteras claimed a 6-2, 4-3 win by retirement at No. 3 singles.
Estefania Hernandez tallied a dominant 6-2, 6-0 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Ipek Sakiroglu posted a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 three-set win at No. 5 singles.
Kalomoira Ralli recorded a 7-5, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Neus Ramos dropped a tough 2-6, 7-5, 3-6 three-set decision at the top singles position.
Vale Mozas lost a tough 2-6, 7-5, 3-6 three-set decision at No. 2 singles.
The Lakers will return to the courts in the GLIAC tournament quarterfinal round beginning next Friday, April 25
th. The Lakers will be the second seed in the tournament and their quarterfinal opponent has yet to be determined.
