GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team posted a perfect 7-0 GLIAC record with a 6-1 win over Davenport in the final match of the regular season Friday (April 18) afternoon. The Lakers claim the GLIAC regular season championship for the second time in program history.
 
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point. Victor Lopes and Patricio Sepulveda tallied a 6-1 win at the top doubles position. Stephen Claassen and Lawrence Ivanov posted a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Denys Zamaraiev and Chimo Minguez added a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles. 
 
In singles action, Victor Lopes claimed a 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 three-set win at No. 2 singles. Jorge Ruiz tallied a 7-6, 6-3 straight set win at No. 3 singles. Patricio Sepulveda recorded a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win at N0. 4 singles. Ignasi Garros posted a 6-1, 6-3 straight set win at No. 5 singles. Chimo Minguez added a 4-6, 6-1, 10-2 three-set win at No. 6 singles. Denys Zamaraiev dropped a tough 6-3, 2-6, 5-7 three-set decision at the top singles position. 
 
The Lakers will return to the courts in the GLIAC tournament quarterfinal round beginning next Friday, April 25^th. The Lakers will be the top seed in the tournament and their quarterfinal opponent has yet to be determined.
