ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team swept Michigan Tech 7-0 Saturday (April 12) afternoon to improve their win streak to seven games. The Lakers improve to 13-2 on the season and 6-0 in the GLIAC and finished the regular season with a perfect 8-0 home record.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov tallied a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
Denys Zamaraiev and
Chimo Minguez posted a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a 6-1, 7-5 straight set win at the top singles position.
Victor Lopes tallied a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Jorge Ruiz posted a 6-1, 6-2 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Patricio Sepulveda claimed a 6-0, 6-2 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Ignasi Garros tallied a 6-2, 6-4 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Chimo Minguez added a dominant 6-0, 6-0 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
GVSU will close the regular season on the road next week Friday, April 18
th when they travel to Davenport for the crosstown showdown. First serve is set for 11:00 AM.
