#11 Grand Valley State swept a GLIAC baseball doubleheader Saturday (April 12) afternoon from Roosevelt University, winning game one 6-1 and game two 10-0. The Lakers, 27-9 overall and 10-5 in GLIAC play, will host Roosevelt in the series finale Sunday (April 13) at 12 noon.

GVSU used a stellar pitching performance from sophomore
Owen Avery as he improved to 4-2. Avery yielded one run on three hits with six strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched. Sophomore
Zach Warren pitched a hitless seventh.Â

Offensively, the Lakers scored six unearned runs on four hits. Senior LF
Ryan Dykstra was 1-1 with and RBI and 3B
Caleb Estrada was 1-3 with an RBI and run scored.Â

Senior pitcher
Collin Bradley dominated from the opening pitch, allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work. He allowed just one runner to reach second.

Evan Morrison walked to open the game and later scored on a
Brendan Guciardo sac fly to right. Morrison homered to right to open the bottom of the fourth and Dykstra followed with a single to right center. Dykstra stole second and eventually scored on another Guciardo sac fly.Â

Morrison opened the bottom of the fifth with a double and scored on a Dykstra RBI single to right center. GVSU loaded the bases and freshman CF
Caden Thelen came through with a 3-RBI triple to right center to give the Lakers a 7-0 lead.Â

Grand Valley State added three runs in the bottom of the seventh for the run-rule victory. Guciardo singled and pinch runner advanced to third on an
Ayden VanEnkevort single. C
Nick Krstich scored Alvord on a groundout and Thelen plated VanEnkevort with a double. Sophomore
Ryan Stimac ended the game with an RBI single to right center that scored Thelen.

Thelen was 3-4 with four RBI, a double and a triple, while Dykstra was 3-4 with one RBI. VanEnkevort was 2-4 with two runs and Morrison was 2-3 with three runs scored, a solo home run and a doubled. Stimac was 2-4 with an RBI and VanEnkevort was 2-4 with two runs scored.Â
