ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team swept Lake Superior State 7-0 Friday (April 11) afternoon at the GVSU Tennis Courts. GVSU improves to 12-2 on the season and 5-0 in the GLIAC.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov tallied a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
Chimo Minguez and
Denys Zamaraiev posted a 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
Victor Lopes and
Lucas Gonzalez dropped a tough 2-6 decision at the top doubles position.
In singles action,
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a 6-3, 6-2 straight set win at the top singles position.
Victor Lopes tallied a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Jorge Ruiz claimed a dominant 6-0, 6-2 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Patricio Sepulveda posted a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Ignasi Garros won a dominant 6-2, 6-0 match at No. 5 singles. Chimo Minguex added a 6-3, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers will close out the home weekend on Saturday, April 12
th for senior day when they host Michigan Tech. First serve is set for 2:00 PM at the GVSU Tennis Courts.
