#14 Grand Valley State swept a pair of 9-inning games Friday at the RussMatt Invitational in Davenport, Florida. The Lakers claimed a 9-3 over Tiffin, followed by a 16-9 victory over Malone. The Lakers will conclude its trip to Florida with a single game versus #8 Minnesota State Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The game will be played in Leesburg, Florida at Pat Thomas Stadium.

Tiffin scored one in the top of the first, but LF
Ryan Dykstra tied the game back up with a solo shot to right in the bottom of the first. RF
Ryan Stimac walked to open the third and eventually scored on a Dykstra single to right. Stimac cleared the bases with a 3-run bomb to left center to up the Laker lead to 5-2. DH
Jonas Gulbrandsen walked with one out in the bottom of the fifth, worked his way around the bases and eventually scored on a wild pitch.Â

Stimac was 2-3, with three RBI, three runs scored, a 3-run home run and a triple, while Dykstra was 2-5, two RBI and a solo HR. Gulbrandsen was 1-4, with one RBI, two runs and an RBI double. VanEnkevort was 1-2, with one RBI and one run scored.Â

Jayden Dentler (3-0) picked up the win, yielding one run on five hits with six strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work.
Edward Konow tallied the first career save of his career, yielding one run on one hit with two strikeouts in 2.1 innings.

GVSU scored early and often versus Malone as the visiting team, pushing one across in the first, five in the second and six in the third. The Lakers added two in the sixth and one each in the eighth and ninth.Â

Grand Valley State scored in the top of the first without a hit as Morrison reached on a passed ball third strike, went to second on a wild pitch, stole third and came home on a sac fly by Gulbrandsen.Â

Caden Thelen had an infield hit that scored a run, Morrison drove in a run with a single to left and Gulbrandsen plated a pair with a single to right.Â

The Laker offense continued to roll as Morrison drove in another run with a double to left, scored on a Dykstra single to left and then C
Brendan Guciardo took the first pitch he saw versus a relief pitcher over the left field fence with the bases loaded to up the Laker lead to 12-0. Freshman Noah Laskey doubled home a run the top of the eighth

Guciardo was 2-3 with four RBI on his grand slam, while Morrison was 2-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. Dykstra was 2-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Stimac was 2-5 with three runs scored, one RBI and a triple.Â

GVSU tallied 14 hits took advantage of 10 walks en route to the 16 runs.Â

Will Goebel, who picked up saves in his previous two outings, got the start and yielded two hits in 1.2 innings. VanEnkevort picked up the win after yielding one unearned run in 2.1 innings of work with three strikeouts.
