Lakers win game 1 4-2, fall in the nightcap 7-6

#5 Grand Valley State (20-6) split a GLIAC doublheader at #14 Davenport (19-6) Friday, winning game one 4-2, but falling in the nightcap 7-6. The same two teams will play Saturday at Davenport beginning at 1 p.m.

Game 1

Grand Valley State jumped on the board first with two runs in the top of the fourth. Junior SS Evan Morrison and senior RF Ryan Dykstra opened the inning with singles and senior C Brendan Guciardo singled to right with two outs to score Morrison and Dykstra scored on a throwing error by the right fielder. Davenport scored one in the bottom half of the frame and tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, but the Lakers pushed across two more runs in the top of the sixth. Morrison walked and scored on a triple to right by Dykstra. 1B Jovan Gill scored Dykstra with a sac fly to up the Laker lead to 4-2.
