ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team closed their opening weekend of GLIAC play with a 5-2 home win against Purdue Northwest Saturday (March 22) evening. The Lakers improve to 8-3 on the season and 2-0 in the GLIAC.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Neus Ramos and
Vale Mozas claimed a 6-4 win at the top doubles position.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez tallied a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Ipek Sakiroglu and
Kalomoira Ralli added a win by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Neus Ramos claimed a dominant 6-0, 6-2 straight set win at the top singles position.
Estefania Hernandez tallied a dominant 6-0, 6-2 straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Rachel Sam and
Nadia Rodewald recorded forfeit wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The Lakers will be back on the court next weekend when they continue GLIAC play on the road. GVSU will face rival Ferris State on Friday, March 28
th at 2:00 PM and Wayne State on Saturday, March 29
th at 10:00 AM.
