ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team opened up their GLIAC schedule at home with a dominant 7-0 win over Roosevelt Friday (March 21) evening. The Lakers improve to 7-3 on the season and 1-0 in the GLIAC.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Neus Ramos and
Vale Mozas claimed a 6-1 win at the top doubles position.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez tallied a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
Ipek Sakiroglu and
Kalomoira Ralli added a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Vale Mozas claimed a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 three-set win at the top singles position.
Anna Soteras tallied a dominant 6-0, 6-1 straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Ipek Sakiroglu posted a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Kalomoira Ralli recorded a dominant 6-1, 6-2 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Rachel Sam claimed a dominant 6-0, 6-1 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Nadia Rodewald added a 6-1, 7-5 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
GVSU will end the opening weekend of GLIAC play at home tomorrow (March 22) evening when they host Purdue Northwest. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
