ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team opened up their GLIAC schedule at home with a dominant 7-0 win over Roosevelt Friday (March 21) evening. The Lakers improve to 8-2 on the season and 1-0 in the GLIAC.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Victor Lopes and
Lucas Gonzalez claimed a 6-4 win at the top doubles position.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov tallied a 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.
Denys Zamaraiev and
Chimo Minguez added a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a dominant 6-1, 6-1 straight set win at the top singles position.
Jorge Ruiz posted a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 three-set win at No. 2 singles.
Patricio Sepulveda tallied a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Lawrence Ivanov recorded a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
Chimo Minguez claimed a 7-5, 6-1 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Stephen Claassen added a 6-3, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
GVSU will end the opening weekend of GLIAC play at home tomorrow (March 22) evening when they host Purdue Northwest. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
