WBCA Announces Postseason Awards

Rylie Bisballe Named All-American, Mike Williams Earns Coach of the Year

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Women's Basketball Coaches' Association announced their postseason awards earlier this morning, with Rylie Bisballe earning All-American honors and Mike Williams named Coach of the Year.

Rylie Bisballe earned Coaches Division II All-American status from the WBCA. The senior was already named the D2CCA Midwest Player of the Year and the GLIAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year. She led the Lakers with 13.7 points and 5.6 rebounds, while shooting 51.3% from the floor. Bisballe added 79 assists, 65 steals, and 27 blocks and shot 73.5% at the charity stripe. She surpassed 1,500 career points earlier this season and moved into the top five in program history in points, (1631), made field goals (628), and rebounds (888). The GLIAC First-Team selection earned Honorable Mention All-American honors last year from the WBCA.

Mike Williams earned WBCA National Coach of the Year after he led the Lakers to the Midwest Regional Championship for the third time in his tenure, leading GVSU to the Elite Eight. GVSU is 35-2, winning 30 games for the fourth straight season, the only Division II team to accomplish that feat. The Lakers swept the GLIAC regular season and tournament titles, earning Williams GLIAC Coach of the Year honors. He coached five All-GLIAC performers, one All-Region player, and one All-American. This is the first time in his career that Williams has earned National Coach of the Year honors.
