ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team returned home and fell 5-2 to Division I foe UIC Friday (March 14) afternoon. The Lakers fall to 6-3 on the season.
UIC claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Ipek Sakiroglu and
Kalomoira Ralli tallied a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Neus Ramos and
Vale Mozas dropped a tough 4-6 decision at the top doubles position.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez lost a 4-6 decision at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play,
Estefania Hernandez claimed a 7-5, 6-3 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Kalomoira Ralli earned a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 three-set win at No. 6 singles.
Neus Ramos dropped a tough 3-6, 3-6 decision at the top singles position.
Vale Mozas lost a tough 6-3, 3-6, 3-6 three-set decision at No. 2 singles.
Anna Soteras dropped a tough 6-3, 3-6, 2-6 three-set decision at No. 3 singles.
Ipek Sakiroglu fell 6-7, 4-6 at No. 5 singles.
GVSU will begin conference play next week Friday, March 21
st when they host Roosevelt at 12:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers will host Purdue Northwest on Saturday, March 22
nd at 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
