ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team closed out the weekend with a dominant 6-1 win over Findlay Saturday (Feb. 8) evening. The Lakers improve t0 3-0 on the season.
Findlay claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Lucas Gonzalaez and
Victor Lopes claimed a 7-6 win at the top doubles position.
Ignasi Garros and
Chimo Minguez dropped a tough 4-6 decision at No. 2 doubles.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov lost a tough 5-7 decision at No. 3 singles.
The Lakers responded by sweeping singles action to claim the win.
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a 6-2, 6-3 straight set win at the top doubles position.
Victor Lopes earned a hard fought 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 three-set win at No. 2 singles.
Lucas Gonzalez tallied a 7-6, 6-4 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Ignasi Garros recorded a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 three-set win at No. 5 singles.
Patricio Sepulveda earned a 6-0, 7-5 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Jorge Ruiz added a 6-4, 6-2 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
GVSU will be back at home next weekend when they host Grace College on Friday (Feb. 15) at 12:00 PM and Walsh on Saturday (Feb. 17) at 5:00 PM. Both matches will be played at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
