ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team dominated Tiffin 6-1 in their home opener Friday (Feb. 7) afternoon. The Lakers improve to 2-0 on the season.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Lucas Gonzalez and
Victor Lopes earned a 6-1 win at the top doubles position.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov claimed a 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
Ignasi Garros and
Chimo Minguez dropped a tough 2-6 decision at No. 2 singles.
On the singles side,
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a 6-0, 6-3 straight set win at the top singles position.
Lucas Gonzalez earned a 6-4, 6-0 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Ignasi Garros tallied a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Patricio Sepulveda posted a hard fought 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 three-set win at No. 5 singles.
Jorge Ruiz added a 6-1, 6-2 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Victor Lopes dropped a tough 1-6, 6-1, 3-6 three-set decision at No. 2 singles.
The Lakers will close out the weekend homestand on Saturday (Feb. 8) when they host Findlay. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
