LAKELAND, Fla. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team fell 4-3 to Charleston Friday (Feb. 28) afternoon to begin their three-match set in the sunshine state. The Lakers fall to 6-1 on the season.
Charleston claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Chimo Minguez and
Denys Zamaraiev tallied a 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
Victor Lopes and
Lucas Gonzalez fell 3-6 at the top doubles position.
Lawrence Ivanov and
Stephen Claassen dropped a tough 5-7 decision at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action,
Lucas Gonzalez earned a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 three-set win at No. 2 singles.
Victor Lopes claimed a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Jorge Ruiz tallied a 6-1, 6-4 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Denys Zamaraiev dropped a 4-6, 0-6, decision at the top singles position.
Patricio Sepulveda dropped a tough 7-5, 4-6, 0-6 three-set decision at No. 4 singles.
Ignasi Garros lost a tough 6-7, 7-5, 2-6 three-set decision at No. 5 singles.
The Lakers will be back on the court on Monday, March 3
rd when they travel to Winter Park, Florida to take on Rollins. First serve is set for 1:00 PM.
