ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball fell 67-66 Thursday (Feb. 20) night to Wayne State. The Lakers fall to 13-12 on the season and 9-8 in the GLIAC.
Jalen Charity led GVSU in scoring with 18 points and five rebounds on 5-9 shooting from the field and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
Mason Docks scored 11 points on 3-7 shooting and a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.
Kaden Brown added 10 points shooting 3-6 from three-point range.
Shamus Thompson and
Cam Regnerus led GVSU with seven rebounds each.
Carmelo Harris led Wayne State with 18 points shooting 4-10 from behind the arc with three rebounds and two steals. Jordan Briggs notched 17 points on 7-9 shooting from the field with three rebounds and two steals.
GVSU shot 40% from the field and 32% from three-point range. Wayne State shot 43% from the field and 25% from three. GVSU outrebounded Wayne State 37-34 and 13-10 in offensive rebounds. The Warriors outscored the Lakers 32-24 in the paint.
The Lakers will close out this weekend's home stand on Saturday (Feb. 22) when they host Saginaw Valley State for the Battle of the Valley's. Tipoff is set for 3:00 PM at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The game will be streamed live on FloSports and can be listened live on Thunder Country 107.3.
