ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's basketball team began GLIAC play Thursday evening, hosting Lake Superior State on Senior Night. GVSU began the game on a 19-0 run, on the way to an 89-39 victory. They are now 7-0 to begin the season and 1-0 in league play.

Prior to the game, the Lakers honored seniors Avery Zeinstra, Molly Anderson, Nicole Kamin, Lexi Plitzuweit, Paige VanStee, Megan Crow, along with student assistant Lauren Riley. The group has tallied a record of 106-8, winning four GLIAC regular season titles, three GLIAC Tournament titles, and made the NCAA tournament every season. In the
tournament, they were part of two NCAA Midwest Regional titles, two trips to the
Final Four, and the 2025 National Championship.

GVSU started the contest on a 19-0 run, getting six points from VanStee and triples from Zeinstra and MacKenzie Bisballe. LSSU finally got on the board with a free throw at the 4:34 mark, but it was answered with six straight Grand Valley points. Lake State hit a couple of baskets towards the end of the period but still trailed 28-6 after 10 minutes.

An 8-0 run to begin the second quarter pushed the GVSU lead up to 36-6. The advantage would stay above 30 points for most of the quarter, until a late LSSU basket cut it to 28 points at the half, 42-14.

The third quarter began with a 13-0 run, started by four straight points from VanStee and getting a three-pointer from Kamin to push the lead above 40 points. Eight straight points from Jordyn Bonnema kept the lead at 40 points heading in the fourth quarter, Lakers up 67-27.

Grand Valley State would increase their lead up to over 50 points with three minutes left in the fourth quarter, capping off their largest victory of the season.
