ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball fell 57-55 at the buzzer Wednesday (Dec. 17) evening. The Lakers fall to 7-2 on the season, while Malone improves to 8-2.
 
Ethan Alderink led GVSU with 18 points on 6-14 shooting from the field. Jalen Charity scored 11 points and brought down five rebounds, while going a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line. Trevor Smith Jr. notched 10 points and dished out two assists on 4-8 shooting from the field. Mason Docks added seven points, three rebounds, and three steals. Shamus Thompson led all players with 11 rebounds with four offensive rebounds. 
 
GVSU shot 38% from the field, while Malone shot 39% from the floor. The Pioneers outrebounded the Lakers 41-32 and 14-9 in offensive rebounds. GVSU forced Malone to commit 13 turnovers, while swiping seven steals.
