SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's volleyball team concluded their weekend roadtrip with a second straight sweep. The Lakers defeated LSSU in straight sets Saturday afternoon, pushing them to 17-7 overall and 10-3 in league play with two regular season games remaining.
The Lakers took the match by the scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-19. GVSU never trailed in the opening set, and were only tied once, as they dominated the first game to go up 1-0. In set two, LSSU held a 9-6 advantage, but Grand Valley responded with a 5-0 run to take an 11-9 lead. It got tied at 11, but GVSU posted a 5-1 run to go up 16-12, never relinquishing the lead to take the second set. In the final set, with the two teams tied at three, GVSU rattled off seven straight points to go up 10-3. LSSU got within one at 15-14, then again at 20-19, but five straight Laker points put up the final five points to complete the sweep.
Kate Goudreau totaled seven kills to lead the way, with
Brianna Stawski and
Kendall Stover notching six each. Stover added 12 digs and
Gabby Orlet dished out 17 assists.
Grace Busold served three aces, and Stawski had four total blocks.

The Lakers close the regular season next week, traveling to Wayne State on Thursday, then hosting Purdue Northwest on Saturday.
