DETROIT, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's volleyball team concluded the road portion of the regular season Thursday, traveling to Wayne State for a match. The Lakers took set one, then fell in the next three, dropping the match to the Warriors. GVSU is now 17-8 overall and 11-4 in league play.
After winning set one 25-19, GVSU lost the next three 25-14, 25-17, and 25-20. The Lakers and Warriors battled for much of beginning of the first set, until with the score tied at 11, GVSU 7-2 lead to take control of the match. From there, they finished it off for the game one win. Wayne State dominated sets two and three to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Both teams battled for much of the final set, but with the Lakers up 20-19, Wayne State scored the final six points of the game to win the match.
Meghan O'Sullivan led the offense with 10 kills, while
Kendall Stover had nine, and
Brianna Stawski eight.
Gabby Orlet dished out 36 assists and
Lexi Armstrong had 21 digs.
