Lauren Kiley, Báhozhóni Church Named GLIAC Cross Country Athletes of the Week

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Once again, Grand Valley State cross country has swept GLIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors. Senior Lauren Kiley and redshirt-junior Báhozhóni Church were named honorees following their performances at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. The GLIAC announced the news earlier this afternoon via the conference website.

Following her race at Notre Dame, Kiley has been named the GLIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. The senior raced in the Women's Blue Division 5k against 179 other athletes, all of whom hailed from an NCAA Division I institution with the exception of her Grand Valley State teammates. The Canton, Michigan native led her team with a personal-best 5000m time of 16:30.3, crossing the finish line 15th overall. Adding just 14 points to the team score, the Lakers were awarded a fourth-place team finish with 161 points, placing higher than 16 NCAA DI institutions.

For the first time in his career, Church has been named GLIAC Athlete of the Week. The Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week earned the title following his performance at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. The redshirt-junior led his team in the Men's Blue Division 8k, crossing the finish line 20th at a personal-best time of 23:22.8. Fighting against 15 NCAA Division I institutions and top-ranked Wisconsin – La Crosse (NCAA DIII), the Lakers found a fifth-place team finish with 158 points, just behind Purdue's 146.
