#6 GVSU Grapplers Claim 47-6 Victory Over Davenport

The Lakers produce nine bonus point wins

#6 Grand Valley State claimed a 47-6 victory over Davenport Thursday evening at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena before a crowd of 648. The Lakers, competing at home for the first and only time this season, tallied nine bonus-point wins, including four by fall, three by technical fall and two by major decision. GVSU will next be in action at the Indianapolis Duals February 8-9. 

RS freshman Orion Wilson (125) opened the dual with a 19-1 tech fall and #10 sophomore Jak Keller (133) followed with a pin in 1:46. RS freshman CJ Poole (141) picked up a third period pin (5:42) and top-ranked Chris Donathan (149) notched a fall (3:22) early in the second period. RS freshman Maddox Simcoe picked up a first period fall (1:22) to give the Lakers a 30-0 lead after five matches. RS freshman Bradley Mayse (165) opened the second half of the dual with a 14-6 major decision and #5 Josh Kenny (174) recorded a quick 16-1 tech fall win. Junior and number 14-ranked junior Wyatt Miller (197) notched a tough 16-2 major decision and #3 Carter Blough (285), a junior, closed the dual with an impressive 19-3 tech fall victory.
