MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team fell 79-52 at Northern Michigan Thursday (Jan. 30) night in Marquette, Michigan. The Lakers fall to 10-9 on the season and 6-5 in the GLIAC.
Charles Turner led the Lakers with 12 points shooting 3-4 from three-point range.
William Dunn scored 11 points and led GVSU with seven rebounds.
Jalen Charity notched eight points and six rebounds shooting 4-7 from the field.
Trevor Smith Jr. added seven points, two rebounds, and two assists.
Northern Michigan was led by Dylan Kuehl with 21 points and nine rebounds shooting 9-19 from the field. Jackson Dudek scored 16 points and hauled down nine rebounds shooting 7-9 from the field with two three-pointers. Julien Smith scored 14 points, while Gerald Gittens added 10 points for the Wildcats.
GVSU shot 30% from the field knocking down seven three-pointers. Northern Michigan shot 48% from the field with eight three-pointers. The Wildcats outrebounded the Lakers 46-32 and 12-10 in offensive rebounds. GVSU had 24 bench points to Northern Michigan's 10.
GVSU will close out the weekend in Houghton, Michigan when they will face Michigan Tech on Saturday (Feb 1) at 2:00 PM. The game will be streamed live on FloSports and can be listened live on Thunder Country 107.3.
