HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team fell 81-66 Saturday (Feb. 1) afternoon at Michigan Tech. The Lakers fall to 10-10 on the season and 6-6 in the GLIAC.
Jalen Charity led GVSU in scoring with 13 points on 5-10 shooting from the field.
Kaden Brown scored 12 points with three made three-pointers and two steals.
William Dunn notched 10 points and three rebounds on 4-8 shooting from the field.
Trevor Smith Jr. added nine points and two blocks.
Michigan Tech was led by Marcus Tomashek who scored 24 points and dished out five assists with three made three-pointers. Dawson Nordgaard scored 14 points with three rebounds on 6-7 shooting from the field. Adam Hobson notched 13 points and six rebounds on 3-8 shooting from behind the arc.
GVSU shot 43% from the field and 36% from three. Michigan Tech shot 46% from the field and 36% from behind the arc. The Huskies outrebounded by the Lakers 36-28 and 10-7 in offensive rebounds. Michigan Tech scored 30 points in the paint to the Lakers 24 points.
GVSU will return home next weekend when they host a pair of top 25 teams in the country. The Lakers will host #11 Lake Superior State on Thursday (Feb. 6) at 8:00 PM. GVSU will then host #15 Ferris State on Saturday (Feb. 8) at 3:00 PM. Both games will be streamed live on FloSports and can be listened live on Thunder Country 107.3.
