The Lakers are coming off a 70-51 victory at Roosevelt, capping off a four game road trip.
Nicole Kamin led the way with a season-high 17 points, adding six boards, six assists, and five steals.
Abrie Cabana scored 10 points, with
MacKenzie Bisballe totaling nine points and five blocks. This was the Lakers' seventh straight win and kept them perfect in GLIAC play at 8-0. GVSU ranks in the top-10 nationally in a multitude of offensive and defensive categories. They lead the country in bench points per game (44.3), they are third in assists per game (19.3), fourth in assist to turnover ratio (1.33), fifth in field goal percentage (46.8%), seventh in scoring offense (83.6 ppg), and they are ninth in scoring defense (52.6 ppg). The Lakers are one of two teams to rank in the top-10 in both scoring offense and scoring defense.
GVSU matched up with Parkside three times last year, twice in the regular season and once in the GLIAC Tournament semifinals. The Lakers came out on top in all three games, winning by 32 points at home, then 13 in the final two meetings. Four players from GVSU averaged double-figures in the three games, with
Rylie Bisballe averaging 20.7,
Paige Vanstee scoring 15 a game, Kamin scoring 13, and Cabana averaged 10. The Lakers have won the past seven matchups over the Rangers, including nine straight at home.
Parkside enters the weekend third in the conference, 11-4 overall and 6-2 in GLIAC play. The Rangers have also been hot since the calendar turned to 2025, going 5-1 in the new year and they have been fantastic on the road, posting a 9-1 record outside of Kenosha. The third-best offense (71.9 ppg) in the league features four double-digit scorers, paced by Cassidy Arni's 13.8 per game. The Rangers are the league's best rebounding squad, pulling down 43.2 a game, and they have only lost the rebounding battle once this season.
The Lakers and Pride also played three times last year, and again GVSU won all three matchups. They dominated PNW at home, winning 92-53, then survived 55-53 on the road, before beating them again in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals 65-54. Kamin averaged 17 points per game over the three matchups, including a career-high tying 20 in the first meeting.
Rylie Bisballe averaged 13 points a game, recording a double-double in the quarterfinal win. GVSU has never lost to Purdue Northwest since they joined the GLIAC, going a perfect 14-0.
Purdue Northwest has struggled in the first year under new head coach Jesse Ford. The Pride are just 4-12 overall and 1-7 in league play, defeating LSSU last weekend for their first conference win. They have yet to win on the road, going 0-7 outside of Hammond thus far and have lost 10 of their previous 11 contests. PNW has the worst defense in the league, allowing 73.8 points per game, while scoring just over 64. Junior forward Alyssa Cole leads the Pride with 12 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game.
