Grand Valley State swept a GLIAC doubleheader at the GVSU Baseball Field Saturday afternoon, winning game one 9-5 and game two 5-4 (10) in walk-off fashion. The final game of the series will take place Sunday (May 5), with first pitch set for 1 p.m. GVSU will honor 12 seniors in a pregame ceremony starting at 12:30 p.m.
Game 2 -
The nightcap was a wild affair that was tied four times and had three lead changes. GVSU took a 1-0 lead when 3B
Jonas Gulbrandsen doubled to open the bottom of the second and RF Nate Logan then moved Gulbrandsen to third with a sac bunt. SS
Connor Schuman then plated Gulbrandsen with a single to left. Davenport tied the game in the bottom of the sixth when the Panthers recorded their first hit of starting pitcher
Sam Leck. GVSU took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh when Logan led off with a triple and scored on a Schuman sac fly. Davenport tied the game with a solo home run in the top of the eighth and took a 3-2 lead with another solo home run in the top of the ninth. The Lakers were down to their final out when Logan took an 0-1 pitch over the right field wall to tie the game (3-3).
The Panthers took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 10th on three hits. A key play was LF

MacArthur Graybill walked to open the inning and DH Connor McCormick was hit by a pitch.
Jake Rydquist loaded the bases was a sac bunt and reached on an error. VanEnkevort walked to push across
Justin Mansager who was a pinch runner and Dykstra then completed the comeback, walk-off win with a single to left that scored pinch runner Ryan Stimak.Â
Logan was 3-3 with a HR and triple, drove in a run and scored two, while Schuman was 1-3 with two RBI. VanEnkevort was 2-4 with an RBI, while Dykstra was 1-5 with the game-winning RBI.Â
Will Goebel picked up the win in relief by getting one out. Starter
Sam Leck was outstanding, yielding one run on two hits with four strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched. Mike Riley yielded three runs, two of which were earned, on four hits in 3.2 innings pitched. Â

Davenport scored three runs in the top of the first and led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the second. C
Brendan Guciardo singled to open the bottom half of the frame and he eventually scored on single by 3B

Logan Anderson, who reached base after getting hit by pitch, scored on single by 2B
Ayden VanEnkevort. The Lakers took their first lead of the game with two  runs in the bottom of the third. Dykstra opened the inning with a walk and advanced to third on a wild pitch. RF Nate Logan walked and SS
Connor Schuman came through with a 2-out, 2-run double. The Panthers took a 5-4 lead in the top of the fifth, but GVSU answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. DH
Jonas Gulbrandsen and Logan singled, followed by a Schuman RBI single. Anderson walked on a wild pitch that scored Logan from third. Rydquist perfectly executed a squeeze bunt that drove in a run and VanEnkevort drove in a run with a single to right. Following a infield single by CF
Kyle Nott loaded the bases with one out and Dykstra plated Rydquist with a sac fly to center.Â
Mike Morawski picked up the pitching win, yielding five runs, three earned, on six hits with three strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched. Senior
Logan Wynalda pitched clean top of the second with one strikeout. VanEnkevort, Schuman and Rydquist each tallied two hits and two RBI, while Dykstra and Anderson also drove in a run.Â
