Grand Valley State Receives 31 All-America Honors

ALLENDALE, MICHIGAN – The U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) announced the All-America honors for the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season on Tuesday, May 28th

First-Team USTFCCCA All-American honors are awarded to those who finished among the Top eight within their respective event, including each member of a relay team. Second-Team All-American honors are given to those who finished in ninth through twelfth place in individual events.

The Grand Valley State Lakers earned 31 individual All-America honors, 20 on the men's side and 11 for the women. Out of the Lakers' 31 All-America honors, Grand Valley received 22 First-Team All-America honors.

On the men's side, the Lakers tallied 15 First-Team honors, with eight of those honors being from both relay squads. Myles Rhodes was the only Laker man to receive two First-Team honors as he was apart of the both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams. 

Caleb Futter earned two All-America honors, First-Team in the steeplechase and Second-Team in the 1500m. 

All three high jumpers, Jaivon Harrison, Jonathan Rankins-James and Eli Kosiba, earned First-Team All-America honors after finishing in first, third and sixth place at Nationals last weekend. 

On the women's side, the Lakers earned seven First-Team All-America honors, with Erika Beistle being the only Laker lady to tally two First-Team honors. Beistle finished the 2024 Outdoor Nationals winning two National Titles, the women's shot put and women's discus. 

The women's throws crew brought in three additional First-Team honors, Shelby Ulven and Alaina Omonode in the hammer and Margaret Stevenson in the discus. 

Klaudia O'Malley earned two All-America honors, First-Team in the 1500m and Second-Team in the 5000m.
