EMPORIA, KANSAS – After day one of the 2-24 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, the women find themselves in eighth place with 7.5 points, while the men remain scoreless after a day of prelims.

In the Field
The Laker ladies recorded all their points in the field on day one, with all three competing athletes podiuming within their respective events.
Shelby Ulven led Grand Valley in the hammer throw, earning fourth place overall with a distance of 58.38m.
Alaina Omonode finished in eighth place with a throw of 55.99m.
Taylor DeHommel tied for seventh place in the women's pole vault, as she cleared a height of 4.00m.
On the Track
Caleb Futter,
Patrick Lyell, and
Klaudia O'Malley will all advance to the finals (Saturday, May 25
th), in the 1500m. Additionally, Futter and
Maria Mitchell clinched a spot in the 3000m steeplechase finals, competing tomorrow (May 24
th).
The men's 4x100m relay squad consisting of
Antonio Passarelli,
Nicholas Walper,
Andrew Pizzico and
Myles Rhodes will find themselves competing in the final round on Saturday, May 25
th after recording a time of 40.13 in the prelims.
The Lakers first event for day two (Friday, May 24
