ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team returned home and dominated Lake Superior State 7-0 Friday (Apr. 19) afternoon at the GVSU Tennis Courts. The Lakers improved to 12-6 on the season and 3-2 in the GLIAC.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Sean Miller and
Freddy Cossio tallied a 6-2 win at the top doubles position.
Jorge Ruiz and
Chimo Minguez posted a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
Lawrence Ivanov and
Stephen Claassen added a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a 6-4, 6-1 straight set win at the top singles position.
Sean Miller rallied to claim a 5-7, 6-0, 10-7 three-set win at No. 2 singles.
Lucas Gonzalez posted a 6-1, 6-2 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Victor Lopes tallied a 6-2, 6-3 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Chimo Minguez added a dominate 6-1, 6-2 straight set win at No. 5 singles, while
Ignasi Garros claimed a 6-2, 6-3 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers will close out the regular season tomorrow at home when they host Michigan Tech. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
