KENOSHA, Wis. – The Grand Valley State softball team split a Tuesday GLIAC doubleheader at Parkside. The Lakers dropped game one 8-0 before winning game two 14-6 in eight innings.
Game Two: W, 14-6 (8-innings)
The Lakers struck first in game two off the bat of
Jasmine Mauk. In the second inning, Mauk launched a two-run home run to center field for her first collegiate home run. Parkside quickly answered in the bottom half of the second inning with a solo home run to cut the lead to 2-1. The Rangers would tie the game at two in the third inning off an RBI double down the left field line.
GVSU answered in the fourth inning again off the bat of Mauk.
Megan Koenigshof led off the inning with an infield single. Next at bat, Mauk launched another home run to center field for her second of the game to give the Lakers a 4-2 lead. Parkside responded again in the bottom half of the fourth inning with a two-run home run to left field, tying the game at four.
The Lakers would regain the lead in the fifth inning off a sacrifice fly by
Carsyn Segorski to score
Morgan Spicer. Parkside would quickly respond in the bottom half of the frame, taking a 6-5 lead for their first lead of the game.
Jenna Ballard would tie the game in the sixth inning off a double to left center to bring home Mauk.
Game two would head to extra innings tied at six. The Lakers exploded for eight runs in the eighth inning, taking a commanding 14-6 lead.
Eliana Eiland drove in what would end up being the game-winning run on a single to left field. Next batter Spicer walked with the bases load and
Hannah Hollister made it 9-6 next at bat with an RBI single.
Kelsey Komorous would break the game open with a three-run double to left field, increasing the lead to 12-6. Later in the inning,
Liberti Fair drove in two more runs with a double to left field.
Hannah Hollister and
Megan Koenigshof each went 3-5 at the plate in game two. Hollister scored and drove in one run, while Koenigshof scored three runs.
Jasmine Mauk launched two home runs with four RBI's, four runs scored, and two walks.
Kelsey Komorous notched two hits with three runs batted in, while
Morgan Spicer recorded two hits with two runs scored and one RBI.
Liberti Fair added two hits, driving in two runs and scoring one run.

Parkside claimed game one of today's doubleheader 8-0 in five innings.
Liberti Fair notched two hits for the Lakers offensively as she recorded four hits total on the day.
The Lakers will continue their stretch of road games on Thursday (Apr. 18) when they travel to face Saginaw Valley State for a GLIAC doubleheader. First pitch for game one is set for 3:00 PM in University Center, Michigan. Both games will be streamed live on FloSports.
