Grand Valley State dropped a 4-3 decision at Hillsdale College Wednesday afternoon. The Lakers will be at Purdue Northwest on Friday (Mar. 29) for a GLIAC doubleheader and then host Wayne State on Saturday (Mar. 30) in the home opener. 
 
The Lakers opened the game with solo home run from SS Connor Schuman. CF Kyle Nott singled, stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. 3B Jonas Gulbrandsen scored Nott with a sac fly to right. However, the Lakers left the bases load, a theme that haunted them for nine innings. 
 
Hillsdale scored a run in the bottom of the third, two in the fourth and one more in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead. The Lakers answered in the top of the seventh on back-to-back triples from LF Ryan Dykstra and Gulbrandsen.
 
GVSU recorded 12 hits, but left 11 on base, including eight in scoring position. The Lakers recorded four triples, a double and home run on the day. 
 
Dykstra was 2-4 with two triples and a run scored, while Schuman was 2-5 with an RBI and run scored. Gulbrandsen drove in two runs .
 
Collin Bradley was tagged with the loss, yielding three runs and five hits with three strikeouts.
