GVSU Baseball Splits With SVSU, Wins Game 2 10-2

Grand Valley State split a GLIAC doubleheader with Saginaw Valley State in Crestwood, Illinois Sunday afternoon at Ozinga Field. The Cardinals won game one 6-2, while the Lakers took game two 10-2. GVSU is 11-9 overall and 3-1 in GLIAC action. 
 
Game 2 –
 
The Lakers scored two in the first, one in the second and exploded for five runs on five hits in the top of the third, one in the sixth and one in the eighth. 
 
Connor Schuman was 2-5 with two runs scored and an RBI
Kyle Nott was 2-4 and reached base four times
Ryan Dykstra was 1-5 with two RBI
Jonas Gulbrandsen was 3-6 with two runs scored
Nate Logan was 2-4 with a triple and an RBI and a run scored
Brendan Guciardo was 3-5 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored
Connor McCormack scored two runs
Logan Anderson was 2-4 with an RBI and run scored
Jake Rydquist was 1-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
Michael Riley got the win, yielding 2 runs on six hits with three strikeouts.
Same Leck pitched two innings, yield one hit and striking out three.
Will Goebel pitched the final inning and struck out two. 
 
 
Game 1
 
Saginaw Valley State scored four in the first and one each in the second and third to take a 6-0 lead. GVSU scored a pair in the bottom of the fourth when CF Kyle Nott walked, went to second on a single from Ryan Dykstra and scored on a single to left off the bat of Nate Logan. 
 
Logan was 2-3 with two RBI, while Dykstra, Connor McCormack and Brendan Guciardo each collected hits. Nott and Dykstra each scored.
 
Mike Morawski took the loss, yielding six runs, five earned, on five hits in three innings. Alan Thorington tossed four innings of scoreless baseball.
