Box Score HAMMOND, Ind. – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team opened up GLIAC play ith a 5-2 victory on the road at Purdue Northwest Friday (Mar. 22) afternoon. The Lakers improve to 6-6 on the season and 1-0 in GLIAC play.
The Lakers swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Taylor Barrett and
Neus Ramos claimed a 7-6 win at the top doubles position.
Vasileia Griva and
Rachel Sam tallied a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Estefania Hernandez and
Vale Mozas added a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Taylor Barrett claimed a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Anna Soteras tallied a 6-1, 6-3 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Neus Ramos rallied to claim a 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 three-set win at No. 5 singles.
Estefania Hernandez added a 6-3, 2-6, 10-3 three-set win at No. 6 singles.
Vasileia Griva dropped a tough 2-6,5-7 decision at the top singles position while
Rachel Sam fell 4-6, 5-7 at No. 4 singles.
The Lakers will close out the weekend at home for the first GLIAC home match of the season when they host Davenport tomorrow (Mar. 23). First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Center.
