ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU Women's Basketball team is headed to the east side of the state for rematches with Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State. The fourth-ranked Lakers will take on the Warriors on Thursday and then go to Saginaw on Saturday.

In the opening weekend of February, the Lakers were at Davenport for the Crosstown Showdown. GVSU completed the season sweep of the Panthers with a 78-38 victory.
Rylie Bisballe and
Megan Crow each scored 11 points, while
Molly Anderson added 10. The Laker defense forced 25 turnovers and held the Panthers to 34% shooting in the win.
Earlier this season, GVSU took down Wayne State and SVSU at home in dominating fashion. The beat the Warriors 81-48, never trailing in the game.
Rylie Bisballe scored a season-high 21 points, while grabbing nine rebounds, and
Lexi Plitzuweit had her first career double-double with a career-high 14 points and 10 rebounds. In the win over the Cardinals, the Lakers were doubling up SVSU after one quarter up 22-11, and they never looked back in the 76-38 win. Bisballe had another strong game in the win, scoring 17 points and grabbing six boards.
Ellie Droste tallied 14 points and
Ava Scanlon had 10.
Wayne State enters the weekend in third place in the league standings at 7-4 in conference and 14-6 overall. Since losing to GVSU in early January, the Warriors have won four of five, including three straight. They have two players averaging double-figures this season, as Gabi Lutchka is scoring 12.2 a game and Shea Tripp has 12.1 a game. Those two rank eighth and ninth in the conference in scoring. Tripp is also fifth in the league with 6.8 rebounds a game. While their offense is the fourth best in the league at 70.8 points, their defense has struggled, allowing 68.7 a contest, which is eight in the GLIAC.
Entering comes into the weekend with an overall record of 6-15 and 3-8 in GLIAC play. The Cardinals have lost three straight, but they play much better at home with a 4-5 record compared to 2-7 on the road. Only one of those five losses at home has been by double-figures and they took Ferris State to the brink two weekends ago, losing by two in the final seconds. They are led by their lone double-figure scorer in Aleshia Jones, who is scoring 13.7 a contest. Only two others are scoring more than seven a game, as the Cardinals score less than 60 a game.
