INDIANAPOLIS – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team fell 4-3 to McKendree in their spring schedule opener Friday (Feb. 2) night. The Lakers drop to 1-1 on the season, while McKendree improves to 1-0.
McKendree claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Freddy Cossio and
Lucas Gonzalez claimed a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Sean Miller and
Victor Lopes dropped a tough 7-5 decision at the top doubles position.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov lost a tough 6-3 decision at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a dominate 6-0, 6-2 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Victor Lopes tallied a 6-3, 6-2 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Chimo Minguez added a dominate 6-2, 6-2 straight set victory at No. 5 singles.
The Lakers will close out the weekend on Saturday (Feb. 3) when they face Indianapolis on the road. First serve is set for 3:00 PM.
