ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team claimed their fourth straight win Friday (Feb. 23) after they defeated Lewis 6-1 at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improved to 5-3 on the season.
The Lakers swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Sean Miller and
Victor Lopes claimed a 6-4 win at the top doubles position.
Jorge Ruiz and
Chimo Minguez tallied a dominant 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov added a 6-2 win at No. 3 double.
In singles play,
Denys Zamaraiev posted a dominant 6-1, 6-0 straight set win at the top songles spot.
Sean Miller claimed a 6-2, 7-6 straight set win at No.2 singles.
Chimo Minguez tallied a 7-5, 6-2 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Ignasi Garros recorded a 0-6, 6-2, 6-3 three-set win at No. 5 singles, while
Freddy Cossio added a 6-0, 6-2 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Victor Lopes dropped a tough 3-6, 4-6 decision at No. 3 singles.
The Lakers will close out this week's homestand tomorrow (Feb. 24) when they host Northwood. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
