ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team returned home and shut out Walsh 7-0 Friday (Feb. 16) afternoon at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improved to 3-3 on the season.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Taylor Barrett and
Neus Ramos claimed a 6-3 win at the top doubles position.
Vasileia Griva and
Rachel Sam tallied a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
Estefania Hernandez and
Vale Mozas added a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Taylor Barrett claimed a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win at the top singles position.
Rachel Sam tallied a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.
Anna Soteras posted a 6-3, 6-0 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Neus Ramos recorded a 6-4, 5-7, 11-9 three-set win at No. 4 singles.
Estefania Hernandez claimed a 6-4, 7-6 straight set win at No. 5 singles, while
Vale Mozas added a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
The Laker women will be back on the court next week when they host Lewis on Friday (Feb. 23) at 12:00 PM. The Lakers will then host Northwood on Saturday (Feb. 24) at 5:00 PM. Both matches will be played at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
