ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team returned home for their first home match of the spring season and defeated Grace College 5-2 Thursday (Feb. 15) at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improved to 3-3 on the season.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Sean Miller and
Victor Lopes tallied a 6-4 victory at the top doubles position.
Chimo Minguez and
Jorge Ruiz posted a dominant 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Lawrence Ivanov and
Stephen Claassen added a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory from No. 2 singles.
Jorge Ruiz posted a 6-0, 6-3 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Chimo Minguez tallied a 6-3, 6-3 straight set victory at No. 4 singles.
Stephen Claassen added a dominant 6-0, 6-0 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Sean Miller dropped a tough 2-6, 7-5, 4-10 three-set decision at the top singles spot.
Ignasi Garros fell 3-6, 2-6 at No. 6 singles.
