After a 7-0 month of November, the Lakers are ranked number one in the country. GVSU took down their third top 10 opponent of the season, defeating Ashland before Thanksgiving 67-42. Rylie Bisballe and Nicole Kamin led the way with 14 points each, combining for nine rebounds, six steals, and three blocks. Ellie Droste scored 12 points, hitting two big threes to start a late run to end the first half. The Lakers rank in the top 10 nationally in multiple categories, both offensively and defensively. They are third in scoring margin (34.6), fourth in bench points per game (42.4), sixth in scoring defense (46.0), and seventh in assists per game (19.3), field goal percentage defense (30.5%), and three-point percentage defense (20%).

Saginaw Valley enters December at 4-2, defeating Northwood, Hillsdale, Pitt-Johnstown, and Ursuline, but falling at Findlay and Walsh. The Cardinals have two dynamic offensive weapons, with Megan McCalla and Aleshia Jones both scoring more than 15 points per game, while shooting over 47% from the floor. SVSU's defense has wreaked havoc on opposing offenses, forcing 24.2 turnovers per game and allowing just over 56 points a contest. Head coach Jenny Pruett is in her seventh season in Saginaw, going 68-73 in that time.

Entering this weekend, Wayne State is 3-2, but they have won three straight contests, beating Northwood, Hillsdale, and Tiffin. Three Warriors are averaging double-figures, with Shea Tripp leading the way at 12.8. Tripp also leads with 9.2 rebounds a game, already notching three double-doubles this season. The Lakers are currently on a 20-game winning streak over the Warriors, dating back to 2015,
