Lakers Defeat Parkside in GLIAC Quarterfinals Tuesday

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's soccer team kicked off postseason play with a 1-0 win in the GLIAC quarterfinals against Parkside Tuesday (Nov. 12) evening. The Lakers move to 12-1-6 on the season.
 
Kendall Aikens put the Lakers on the board in the 39th minute which ended up being the game-winning goal. Aikens notched her second goal of the season with the assists by Alli French and Sophia Morgan
 
Parkside outshot GVSU 13-10, while shots on goal were even at 6-6. The Lakers produced six corner kicks, while holding Parkside to four. 
 
Kendall Aikens led the Lakers with a goal off two shots on goal. Vesna Dennison notched three shots with two on goal. Alli French dished out an assist with three shots and one on goal. Sophia Morgan added an assist on two shots with one on goal. Cailynn junk made six saves earning her ninth individual shutout of the season. 
 
GVSU advanced to the GLIAC semifinals where they will play the three-seed Saginaw Valley State on Friday (Nov. 15) in Marquette, Michigan on the campus of Northern Michigan.
