• #1 Grand Valley State will host #3 Ferris State in the 2024 Anchor-Bone Classic. The Anchor-Bone Classic began in 2002, but the first game was a 40-10 Laker win in 2003. GVSU leads the all-time Anchor-Bone Classic series by a 12-8 margin. The Lakers (7-0) are coming off a 16-9 victory over #23 Saginaw Valley State, while the Bulldogs (6-1) are coming off a 51-13 victory over Michigan Tech. Â

THE SERIES
Grand Valley State leads the all-time series with Ferris State by a 32-23-1 margin. The Lakers are 16-12 at Lubbers Stadium versus the Bulldogs and 16-11-1 at Top Taggart Field. GVSU and FSU have met twice in a season five times since 2015, including each of the last three years. Saturday's game will be the seventh meeting since 2021. Â
Saturday's meeting will mark the 14th consecutive meeting that both teams are ranked, including seven straight when both teams are ranked in the top six. Grand Valley State holds a 14-10 advantage when either team or both are ranked since 2001. GVSU has been ranked number one at the time of the meeting between the two programs seven times and the Lakers are 6-1 in those games. Ferris State has been ranked number one four times at the time of the meeting (2023, 2022, 2021, 1996) and the Lakers  hold a 3-1 advantage.
