ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball dropped a tough 63-61 contest to Northern Michigan Saturday (Jan. 6) afternoon at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers fall to 5-8 on the season and 2-1 in the GLIAC.
Ethan Alderink led the team with 15 points on 4-10 shooting while going 2-2 from beyond the arc. Alderink also led the Lakers with seven rebounds including five offensive boards.
William Dunn notched 14 points on 5-9 shooting and hauled in five rebounds.
Britain Harris added 11 points and seven rebounds shooting 4-10 from the field.
The Lakers shot 37.3% from the field, 30% from three, and 80% from the free throw line. GVSU outrebounded Northern Michigan 38-31 including nine offensive rebounds to the Wildcats seven.
The Lakers will be back home next weekend when they continue their GLIAC schedule. GVSU will host Saginaw Valley State for 616 night on Thursday (Jan. 11) at 8:00 PM before taking on Wayne State on Saturday (Jan. 13) at 3:00 PM. Both games will be streamed live on FloSports while Thursday's game can also be watched live on WXSP-TV.
