KENOSHA, WIS. – It was a battle of two teams tied for second place in the GLIAC tonight in Kenosha, as the Lakers were on the road to take on the Parkside Rangers. All three sets were closely contested, but the Lakers pulled off the sweep, winning 25-21, 25-22, and 25-21.
Set one was close throughout as the teams traded points for almost the entirety of the set before Parkside took a 21-19 lead late. Following that point by the Rangers, the Lakers responded with the final six points, capped off by a
Brianna Stawski block to take a 1-0 lead in the match. GVSU jumped out to a 7-1 lead in set two, but Parkside came back to tie the match at seven. However, GVSU retook the lead right away and held on for the rest of the set to take it 25-22. Once again, the Lakers got an early lead, this time in set three, going up 7-2 to begin the final set. Just like the second set, the Rangers responded and got it within two at 10-8, but that was as close as they would get, as the Lakers pulled away and withstood a late Ranger run to finish off their eighth sweep of the season.
