ALLENDALE, MICHIGAN – The Grand Valley State men's track and field jumps squad completed their debut at the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships hosted at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon this past weekend.

Steve Jones stated, "We had a successful weekend in Eugene. I thought all three athletes competed at a high level and represented Grand Valley State proudly. I know all three are looking forward to some downtime over the next month as we refocus and set our eyes on the 23-24 season with new goals in mind."
In the U20 men's long jump,
Luke Jelderks finished in eighth place with a solo jump of 7.08m. Jelderks competed against the Top 16 long jumpers in the country under the age of 20.
In the men's high jump,
Eli Kosiba brought home a fourth place finish clearing a height of 2.21m, while
Jonathan Rankins-James tied for 12
th clearing a height of 2.16m. Kosiba and Rankins-James competed against the Top 18 high jumpers within the U.S. including professionals, post collegiate and current college athletes.
Former Grand Valley State pole vaulter, Kristen Hixson Leland tied for eighth in the women's pole vault on Sunday, July 9
th clearing a height of 4.36m.
