WARREN, OHIO – The GVSU men's golf team is through day two at the National Championships, and they are tied for sixth after round two. The Lakers will head into tomorrow's final round attempting to stay inside the top six to advance to the match play quarterfinals.
Results
Oklahoma Christian shot -11 today to take a commanding lead in the tournament at thirteen under. Barry is in second, followed by West Florida in third, Georgia Southwestern in fourth, and Sonoma State in fifth. GVSU is tied for sixth with Nova Southeastern and Missouri S&T at +5.
Bryce Wheeler is the Lakers leading golfer, as he is at one under for the tournament and tied for 18th. Wheeler shot a 72 (E) today, sinking four birdies.
Drew Coble shot a 70 (-2) today with six birdies and he is tied with
Nick Krueger for 24
th place at one over par. Krueger shot a 75 (+3) today with two birdies.
Charles DeLong is at +6 through two rounds, and in a tie for 64
th, as he sank three birdies in his round of 78 (+6) today.
Charlie Cooley shot an 84 (+12) today and is at thirteen over for the tournament, sitting in 96
th place.
GVSU plays their final round of stroke play tomorrow, teeing off at 11:10 am, and they are paired with North Georgia and Missouri S&T.
