WARREN, OHIO – Day one of the National Championship has come to a close, and thanks to a fantastic back nine, in which the Lakers were seven under par, the GVSU men's golf team is tied for second place in the tournament.
Results
Missouri S&T is in the lead at -4, shooting a 284 today. GVSU and Oklahoma Christian are both tied for second, as they both carded a 286 (-2) today. Barry is in fourth, shooting a 287 (-1), while Harding is fifth at even par 288.
GVSU sank a combined 10 birdies over the final nine holes to climb up the leaderboard into second place. Leading that charge was
Nick Krueger, who carded a round of 70 (-2), sinking four birdies on the day, as he is tied for eighth after the first round.
Bryce Wheeler had a fantastic back nine, shooting four under, as he finished the day at one under, carding a 73 with five total birdies.
Charles DeLong is tied for 22
nd after a round of 72 (E) with five birdies.
Charlie Cooley is tied for 31
st at +1, after sinking four birdies in his round of 73. In a tie for 48

Drew Coble, who carded a 75 (+3) with two birdies.
The Lakers will play the second round tomorrow, starting at 7:30 am, as they are paired with West Florida and Davis & Elkins.
