NOBLESVILLE, IND. – The Grand Valley men's golf team kicked off their final regular season golf tournament today, teeing off at the Ken Partridge Invitational. After the first round of play, GVSU is in second place, three strokes back of the lead and have two individuals inside the top-10.
Missouri-St. Louis leads the event after shooting a 286 (-2) to lead by three strokes. GVSU is in second, carding a round of 289 (+1), followed by Findlay in third with a 291 (+3), UIndy is fourth after a round of 292 (+4), and Tiffin is fifth after carding a 294 (+6).
Charles DeLong is once again near the top of the leaderboard, as he is second after day one, shooting a round of 67 (-5). DeLong is four strokes behind the leader after starting his round with an eagle and adding five more birdies after that.
Charlie Cooley is tied for eighth, shooting a 72 (E). Cooley tallied four birdies in the round.
Nick Krueger is in a tie for 21
st at two over, carding a round of 74 with three birdies.
Drew Coble is tied for 34
th, shooting a 76 (+4), sinking two birdies today.
Bryce Wheeler shot an 80 (+8), and sits in a tie for 67
th, recording three birdies. Individual
Alex Jordan had one birdie en route to his round of 78 (+6) and is tied for 52
nd.
The Lakers will play round two tomorrow at the Purgatory Golf Course.
