ALLENDALE—The blood drive in memory of former Laker athlete Jaden Blake wrapped up last week and was an overwhelming success with nearly 100 donors over the span of two days.
 
The Office of Student Life and the Versiti Blood Center of Michigan partnered to host the Jaden Blake Memorial Blood Drive in honor of GVSU pole vaulter Jaden Blake, who passed away due to injuries sustained in a November automobile accident. 
 
The two-day event saw a total of 94 blood donors. The drive welcomed 54 donors on March 29 and 40 donors on March 30. Of the 94 total donors, 56 were first-time blood donors. 
 
According to Versiti, the two days of donations, which produced 84 successful donations, including 72 whole blood donations, five double red donations and two plasma donations. These donations will save 252 lives in total.
